Students For Social Justice

Students For Social Justice

Hello folks, we are proud to announce a new youth support group focused on youth community advocacy; Students for Social Justice (S4SJ). It will be a collaboration between the Center for Community Action and Environmental Justice and the Rainbow Pride Youth Alliance. Meetings will be geared towards youth between the ages of 12-18 years olds and will meet alternating Tuesdays at CCAEJ’s office from 3pm to 5pm starting Tuesday February 26th.

S4SJ will focus on engaging students to be active leaders in their communities by developing their critical lens on regional issues and identifying cultural strengths that build resilience. Through the program, students will develop, apply, and strengthen knowledge of social justice issues in a safe space. This will empower students to get involved locally and make informed choices regarding their own behavioral health and development.

It will feature workshops on the following topics:

  • Environmental Justice

  • Systems of Oppression

  • Conflict Resolution

  • Self-Care

  • Patriarchy & Sexism Economics

  • Capitalism & Wage Exploitation

  • Homophobia & Queer Liberation
